As we wrapped up the evening Isaiah had moments of alert and interaction after a pretty sleepy 24 hours. It was such a blessing to have him look at us and respond to our yes and no questions. He lit up at the mention of friends' names, helped us to know if the movements Steve was doing on his legs felt okay or not. The biggest blessing was that he was not agitated or stressed by all the things attached to him. He let us know it wasn't his preference, but he was not agitated. As we head into the night you can pray:
- that Isaiah remains calm during moments of wakefulness in the night
- praise that they did get a good night's sleep last night
- praise that Isaiah's temperature continued to lower throughout the afternoon and pray that his body is able to maintain the lower body temps and not spike a fever
- praise that he is getting the deep and restful sleep that he needs to allow his body to focus on healing his kidney
- It is thrilling to see these moments of more alert but it is a balance to maintain a level of sedation that keeps him comfortable and resting. You can pray through the night that this balance is maintained.
As we head towards times of more alert, it means we see every grimace of pain, he can shake his head no and not want to move his body when needed and that is hard. We know that the medications he is on manage his pain well and will mean that he will have little memory of this ordeal but in the moment it is so hard to see your child face the healing process.
Isaiah is amazing. He is so brave and so strong. Thank you for praying.
