We had a great appointment yesterday with the trauma surgeon. He didn't do any imaging this time, but an ultrasound is scheduled for a month from now. He stated that he "did his job by not doing his job". No surgery is a good thing in these cases. He would like Isaiah to remain at a low-activity level through the end of the month. Once the stent is removed we have things to watch for as indicators of problems internally, but as of now Isaiah shows nothing but good health.
Unfortunately, we had to do a pre-op appointment today to prepare for his surgery next week. We had to go to lab and get his finger pricked to check his hemoglobin levels. He continues to look a little on the pale side and the family practice doctor today said that is more than likely due to the lower than normal hemoglobin levels he has had since the injury.
I did not warn Isaiah before hand that any needles were involved. Once his finger was pricked he was quite upset and needed a lot of assistance to calm down and finish the procedure. He came to a point where he could mentally handle it and it was rather cute to watch him pep-talk himself through it. He thought the lady was going to take all his blood out and into the tube she was holding. Poor guy! After the appointment he told me he doesn't want to be brave anymore. He said he wishes he never got his inside owie. He's just a little tired of getting poked with needles and does remember quite a lot from the hospital. We're thankful needles are mainly a thing of the past.
He came home and took a three and a half hour nap!
