Ephesians 6:10, 14-17
"Finally, be strong in the Lord...Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
Yesterday some friends were stating how obvious it was that the Spirit of the Lord was dwelling in this place. There is peace. The conversation moved to the Armor of God (as found in Ephesians 6). If you know Isaiah, you know he loves a good wrestle. He is full of vigor and ready for battle. And through this, he is a warrior. Isaiah is equipped with the sword of the Spirit. The truth of God's word is being poured out through your prayers into his room and into our hearts. Anna and Steve are resting in the truth of the Bible and reading it over Isaiah as he rests. And we have all taken up the shield of faith, strengthened and encouraged through your prayers and God's presence with us. Can you picture that little warrior with his sword and shield? It is powerful.
Later yesterday afternoon, a physical therapist came to show us some exercises that we can do with Isaiah in his bed. As he demonstrated the exercise for his right arm, the only one that isn't tethered with lots of tubes, etc. and the one that happens to be Isaiah's dominant hand, the PT said of the movement, "Like removing a sword from it's sheath." You better believe it! That little boy is unsheathing his sword literally through his PT exercises and moment by moment as the Spirit dwells with him.
"For the word of God is living and active..." Hebrews 4:12
